For out-patient services, one of the greatest challenges is maintaining a consistent throughput in order to keep waiting times at a minimum. By working in close collaboration with managers, receptionists and clinicians, Ethitec has created a powerful and effective Waiting List and Appointment scheduling module.

Whether you need to book appointments in a clinic, group session, drop-in service or for a particular person or for a home visit, then the Tiara9 appointments scheduler supports them all, and in any combination that your staff work! If new patients get longer on their first appointment then that's fine and if you just want five minutes to review progress than that's all you need to book. The scheduler will optimise the remaining time to avoid unnecessary wastage.

The Tiara9 appointments scheduler has been developed specifically for the Allied Health Professions so it doesn't contain the limitations of traditional PAS outpatient appointment schedulers. Our module has been proven to be beneficial in all circumstances but the biggest improvements come when it is replacing a manual system. One site reported that each clinician saw, on average, an extra two patients per week just because of better appointment scheduling, but that that was enough to create and maintain a 66% decrease in waiting times for their patients.

Tiara9 also supports effective management of the issue of Monitoring of Referral To Treatment Times (RTT). In Tiara9, this is fully integrated into our procedures and workflows so that it is automatically handled. Screens showing the patients on the Waiting List are in clock start date order so that those at the top of the list really are the ones who have been waiting the longest.

Tiara9 is proactive on monitoring and will message managers to highlight anybody who is set to breach locally determined targets. When a patient is seen, the clinical workflows include the necessary fields to record the RTT outcome which will determine whether the clock is stopped or not. The module can be set to work to either the English or Scottish monitoring rules.

Tiara9 is also accredited by HSCIC to deliver the e-Referrals (e-RS) service, enabling GPs to book appointments directly with hospital services. This means Tiara9 represents an affordable e-RS and clinical record keeping solution for all service providers looking to bid for NHS AQP contracts.
